Ordering at a Restaurant

On Friday evening, Vikram and his friends decided to try a new restaurant downtown. When they arrived, the host greeted them and asked how many people were in their party. He then seated them at a table near the window and handed each of them a menu.

A server came by, told them about the specials, and took their drink orders first. When she returned, they ordered appetizers to share and their main courses. Vikram asked a few questions about the dishes, and the server happily explained what each one was.

After they finished eating, the server brought the check. In the US, it is normal to leave a tip for good service, usually around fifteen to twenty percent. They split the bill, left a tip on the table, and thanked the staff on their way out, full and happy.
